An phríomhaidhm atá againn i Scoil Fhionnbarra ná oideachas lán-Ghaeilge a chur ar fáil dos na daltaí go léir. Táthar ag súil go rachaidh a saol scoile i bhfeidhm orthu go dearfach le linn a dtréimhse sa scoil, agus go mbeidh cuimhní deimhneacha acu ar a saol scoile amach anseo.

Tá sé mar aidhm ag Scoil Fhionnbarra maitheas i ngach páiste a chothú agus a thabhairt chun foirfeachta agus gach páiste a chur ar thóir na maitheasa sa saol atá thart air/uirthi.

Is í an Ghaeilge teanga na scoile. Is trí mhéan na Gaeilge a ghlacann na páistí páirt i ngach rud ar scoil. Tá pobal na scoile an-bhródúil as a bheith suite I gceartlár na Gaeltachta agus tuigtear dúinn an dualgas atá orainn an Ghaeilge a fhorbairt, an Ghaeilge a neartú agus meas a chothú I measc na daltaí sa Ghaeilge.
